The following is a transcription of Bogdanovka (Cee Pee) Doukhobor Cemetery located 6 3/4 miles west of Langham, Saskatchewan. Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344. Historical Background

Bogdanovka Cemetery was established in 1899 by the Doukhobors of Bogdanovka village near Langham. After the abandonment of the village in 1917, the cemetery continued to be used by local Doukhobors. Located adjacent to Cee Pee Siding, it also came to be known as Cee Pee Cemetery. The cemetery is still in active use today and is in very good condition. It is privately owned and maintained by a cemetery committee.

Layout

The cemetery is one acre in size and is enclosed by a wire fence. There is an open gate on the west side. The cemetery contains 110 interments in a single section comprised of eight rows facing east-west. Approximately fifty-six of the graves have no marker and the mounds have been leveled. I have used death certificates and oral tradition to identify 16 of these. The remaining 40 unmarked graves are unidentified. With respect to graves with markers, the markers are typically plain slate, marble or concrete upright headstones or flat markers set flush to the ground. Click here for an online cemetery map.

Driving Directions

To access the cemetery, travel west from the Town of Langham on Highway No. 16 for 6 1/2 miles (10.5 km). Turn north on the Cee Pee Grid (Range Road No. 3085) and continue for 1/4 mile (.4 km). Then turn east and travel 200 yards (183 m) on the dirt road. The road ends in front of the cemetery gate. This cemetery is on private property and permission to access should be obtained by the owners.
