Historical Background

Daphne Doukhobor Cemetery was established in 1940 by Independent Doukhobors who settled in the Daphne district north of Watson, Saskatchewan in the 1920's. It is owned and managed by a cemetery committee. The tiny cemetery is very well maintained, but is no longer in active use. Since the late 1960's, most local Doukhobors have been interred in the nearby Watson Public Cemetery.

Layout

The cemetery is approximately half an acre in size and is not enclosed. The cemetery contains 14 interments in a single section comprised of two rows facing east-west. There are at least four unmarked graves. With respect to graves with markers, the markers are typically plain slate or marble upright headstones or flat markers set flush to the ground. Driving Directions

To access the cemetery, travel 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Watson, Saskatchewan on Highway No. 6. The cemetery is on the east side of the road allowance. The cemetery is on private property and permission to access should be obtained by the owners.
