Slavyansky Khutor

District: Gadabay
Province: Gadabay
Country: Azerbaijan

In circa 1856, Doukhobors established a khutor (farmstead) at a mineral spring near the village of Slavyanka in the Kedabek district of Elizavetpol province, Russia (present-day Gadabay district, Azerbaijan). It was the summer residence of 19th century Doukhobor leaders Petr Ilarionovich Kalmykov (1836-1864) and Lukeria Kalmykova (1841-1886) when they visited the area. It was surrounded by a small orchard. In 1895, it was the site of the Burning of Arms by Elizavetpol Doukhobors. By the early 20th century, the Slavyanksy Khutor (Славянский Хутор) was abandoned. Today, it is revered as a holy site by local Doukhobors. [40° 39' N - 45° 48' E]
