Iskup
In c. 1826, Doukhobor settlers and exiles established the village of Iskup (Искуп) on the Enisei River in the Turukhansk district of Enisei (now Krasnoyarsk) province, Russia. The name means “redemption” or “atonement” in Russian, a reference to their religious beliefs and experience. It was also known as Dukhobory (Духоборы) after its inhabitants. By 1860, the Iskup Doukhobors were renowned for their wealth and prosperity. The village still exists today; however, it is unknown whether Doukhobors still reside there. [63° 2' 8" N - 88° 7' 54" E]
