Yasenevaya Balka
This long, narrow ravine runs west-north-west from the Molochnaya River in the Melitopol district of Zaporiz’ka province, Ukraine. When the Doukhobors first arrived in the district in the 1802, the ravine was heavily forested with ash (yasen’) trees. For this reason, they named it Yasenevaya Balka (Ясеневая Балка) meaning the “Ash Ravine” in Russian. [47.01086° N - 35.38035° E]
