Gradovaya Dolina
In 1916, Community Doukhobors from British Columbia established a double village in the Castle River valley in the Lundbreck (Kavkaz) district of Alberta. It was located in the Rocky Mountain foothills in an area prone to severe, damaging hail storms. Hence it was named Gradovaya Dolina (Градовая Долина) meaning “hail valley” in Russian. It was also known as Gradovoye (Градовое). For this reason, the land was sold in 1922 and the village was abandoned. [E1/2-6-2-W5] [49.52127° N - 114.20524° W]
