Makortoff Village
In 1912, Community Doukhobors from Saskatchewan established a village near Newby Creek in the Outlook (Khristovoye) district of British Columbia. It was known as Makortoff Village or Makhortovo Selo (Махортово Село) in Russian after the Makortoff family of Doukhobors who lived there. By 1961-1963, the CCUB lands were sold and the village was disbanded. Today it is the site of the Mountain View Doukhobor Museum. [District Lot 334, Similkameen Division, Yale District] [49.03804° N, -118.49103° W]
