Horkoff Village
In 1908, Community Doukhobors from Saskatchewan established a village on the lower bench of the Kootenay River in the Brilliant district of British Columbia. It was known as Horkoff Village or Gor’kovo Selo (Горьково Село) in Russian after the Horkoff family of Doukhobors who lived there. By 1961-1963, the CCUB lands were sold and the village was disbanded. [District Lot 9, Group 1, Kootenay District]
