Veseloye
In 1912, Community Doukhobors from Saskatchewan established the village of Veseloye (Веселое) along the Slocan River in the Lebahdo district of British Columbia. The name means “merry” or “cheerful” in Russian and described the villagers. It had special quarters for Peter "Lordly" Verigin to stay when he visited the area. By 1961-1963, the CCUB lands were sold and the village was disbanded. [District Lot 8701, Kootenay District]
