Vozvysheniye
In 1899, five Doukhobor families from Kars, Russia established the village of Vozvysheniye (Возвышение) in the present Buchanan district of Saskatchewan. The name means “elevation” or “rising ground” in Russian and is descriptive of the surroundings. It was also known as Vozvyshenovka (Возвышеновка). In 1901, it merged into the nearby village of Kirilovka. [51° 42' N - 102° 45' W]
