Novo-Gorelovka
In 1847, Doukhobor exiles established the village of Novo-Goreloye (Ново-Горелое) near the Artepe River in the Kedabek district of Elizavetpol province, Russia (present-day Gadabay district, Azerbaijan). The name, derived from their village of origin in Tavria, means “New Goreloye”. In the 1890’s, it was altered to Novo-Gorelovka (Ново-Гореловка). In the Soviet era, the village was organized as a collective farm. In the 1990’s and 2000’s, the Doukhobor population was depleted by emigration to Russia and today the population is primarily Azeri.
