Vozneseniye
In 1908, Community Doukhobors from Saskatchewan established the village of Vozneseniye (Вознесение) on the upper bench of the Kootenay River in the Brilliant district of British Columbia. It was named after the village of Vozneseniye in Saskatchewan from whence they came. It was also known as Wishloff Village or Vyshlovo Selo (Вышлово Село) in Russian after the Wishloff family of Doukhobors who lived there. By 1961-1963, the CCUB lands were sold and the village was disbanded. [District Lot 9, Group 1, Kootenay District]
