Arekhoff Village
In 1912, Community Doukhobors from Saskatchewan established a village on the west bank of the Slocan River in the Winlaw district of British Columbia. It was known as Arekhoff Village or Arekhovo Selo (Арехово Село) in Russian after the Arekhoff (Verigin) family of Doukhobors who lived there. It had special quarters for Peter "Lordly" Verigin to stay when he visited the area. By 1961-1963, the CCUB lands were sold and the village was disbanded. [District Lot 5965, Kootenay District] [49° 35' 48" N - 117° 35' 16" W]
