In 1914, Community Doukhobors established a village on the Columbia River in the Brilliant district of British Columbia. Situated near a large communal raspberry plantation, it was named Malinvoye (Малинвое) meaning “raspberry” in Russian. A second set of communal houses was built there in 1932. It was considered a "model" village in layout and construction. Brilliant Community School was built there in 1934. Today, the unincorporated community is known by its translated name Raspberry.
